Reading the map
Ask:
- Which contributions changed the research trajectory?
- Which contribution claims are supported by contemporaneous trace?
- Which rely mainly on retrospective reconstruction?
- Where could more than one contribution history still explain the final artefact?
- Which attribution questions actually matter for authorship, disclosure, research integrity or interpretation?
Important boundary
Clearer attribution does not establish that the observed division of labour is desirable.
